FAQ
Find answers to common questions about using the SiteMinder APIs, integration process, and general developer guidance.
What solutions are covered in the SiteMinder Developer Guide?
The Developer Guide includes documentation for integrating with booking channels through SiteConnect API and/or Channels Plus API, Property Management Systems (PMS) and Revenue Management Systems (RMS) through pmsXchange API, and applications through SiteMinder Exchange API.
How do we know which API is suitable for us?
The appropriate API depends on the type of system. For booking channels, use SiteConnect API or Channels Plus API. For Property Management Systems (PMS) and Revenue Management Systems (RMS), use pmsXchange API. For applications, refer to SiteMinder Exchange API.
What are the main differences between SiteConnect and Channels Plus?
SiteConnect is a PUSH 2-way API that allows access to rates and inventory of hotels that the partner has a direct contract with.
Channels Plus is a PULL API designed to access the inventory, rates, and content of all hotels connected to SiteMinder and opted in to Channels Plus, without needing direct contracts.
As a booking channel, can we integrate with both SiteConnect and Channels Plus?
SiteConnect API and Channels Plus API cannot be technically combined in a single integration. However, a booking channel can use both for different purposes. SiteConnect is used for direct connections, while Channels Plus can be leveraged for expanding access to additional properties and content.
What do we need to do to start using SiteMinder APIs?
You need to apply to become a SiteMinder partner by completing the Integration Application Form. Our team will review your application and provide further instructions.
We are already a certified SiteMinder partner but want to certify against a new API functionality. How can we proceed?
If you want to certify against a new API functionality, complete the SiteMinder Test Environment Access Form to request temporary access. The Partner Integrations Team will process your request and contact you with the details.
Can we have permanent access to the test environment?
The test environment is designed for temporary testing purposes only and has limited infrastructure compared to the live environment. Traffic is controlled to maintain consistency for all partners conducting tests. However, partners already live can request temporary access to the test environment for specific testing needs.
